All Around Pflugerville
Hey Pfloks, welcome to the week of March 10, 2026.
By now you probably know of the stage 3 drought restrictions that we’re on. But if not, we’ve got some answers to FAQs to help, and where you can keep current on water restrictions (you see what I did there?).
Also this week:
Local Spotlight: Book Burrow told me two truths and a lie…
Events and celebrations around town
And plenty of excuses to get out of the house, whether for a family outing or Halloween in March (Friday the 13th) Bar Crawl
THIS WEEK’S QUOTE
You could not step into the same river twice
That’s the “standard” version that Plato uses. The more famous version that’s one attributed to Hercalitus is expanded to say “No man steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man”

Local Roundup
🚰 When Will Water Restrictions Ease?
The water line that feeds Lake Pflugerville, our source for water, was ruptured last week. The good news is that a temporary bypass line is [knock on wood] still on schedule to be completed today, 3/10. That doesn’t mean an immediate easing of water restrictions, however.
Water conservation and following the Stage 3 restrictions is still essential to getting us back to normal
Outdoor watering is prohibited, to include washing your car in your driveway, hose watering, irrigation, and more. The only exception is necessary foundation watering. Failing to adhere can mean fines of up to $1500-$2000 per occurrence
All restrictions and FAQs can be found here
If you have more questions, there’s a City Council Meeting tonight at 7pm
🎃 Friday the 13th Halloween in March Bar Crawl
Come meet your future furry friend at March’s Kitty Cafe at the Pflugerville Library on Tuesday, March 3rd at 4:30pm-5:30pm. These cool cats are available for adoption and come from Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services (PAWS). Attendants must be 5+ and accompanied by an adult.
🎶 Music in the Park is Back!
This kicks off the 2026 season of Music in the Park, starting this Friday, March 13th from 7pm-9pm with Hill Country Revival, for Southern Rock/Texas Country. Come hang out and listen to music for free in Pfluger Park. Make yourself comfortable with lawn chairs, blankets, picnics. Alcohol is allowed, but no glass containers.

Local Business Spotlight: The Book Burrow
Looking for great new and pre-loved books with pfriendly vibes (and maybe some furry friends) or maybe a Witchy Happy Hour?
The Book Burrow might just be your kind of place. And just by coincidence, this Saturday, March 14th they’re celebrating their 5 year anniversary with a Garage Sale event with discounted books, vendors, tarot readings and more.
Two Truths and a Lie…
I stopped in the other day to peruse their selections—everything from new releases to pre-loved gems to options for a “Blind Date With a Book.”
And then I grilled Kelsey, the owner, with some hard-hitting journalism.
She told me two truths and a lie. Can you guess which is the lie?
If you’ve been looking for a pfun, locally-owned, and independent book shop in town look no further. Book Burrow has tons of books and events (I’m talking 20+ per month) that you can enjoy. So stop in—and tell them All Around Pflugerville sent you.

Run Your Business. Don’t Let it Run You into the Ground.
👋 I’m Steve. I live here in Pflugerville and run Cedar Web Agency (and this newsletter…and pflugervillebusinesses.com) — a small business AI & marketing agency.
If your business is humming along and you’re not stressed and overworked, you probably don’t need my help. If you could use more customers or clients, or you need help but can’t afford to hire, I might be able to help.
Customized AI you have to try to believe — tohandle admin tasks, missed calls, book customer appointments, and even qualify leads
Websites & SEO so you rank high in Google, ChatGPT, and Apple Maps
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Ads — targeted, effective, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional marketing
I’m terrible at sales but great at marketing. So no high pressure calls from me.

Historical Pfacts: Sermons in German
This week’s historical rabbit hole comes courtesy of Kelsey from The Book Burrow, who tipped me off to how long German was spoken in local churches.
Did you know…
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville traces its roots back to the 1870s, when German immigrant farmers organized a congregation that worshiped and did business almost entirely in German.
For decades, services, meetings, and records were conducted in German, and the church functioned as both a spiritual home and a cultural anchor for German‑speaking families in the area.
It wasn’t until around World War II that Immanuel Lutheran fully transitioned from German to English in its services—a shift driven by wartime pressures and a broader push for “Americanization,” even as many families quietly kept their heritage alive at home.
Next time you drive past Immanuel or flip through a local history display, it’s wild to remember that less than a century ago you might have heard sermons, hymns, and hallway conversations in German—right here in Pflugerville.
Those are the highlights of life in Pflugerville this week!
See you on Tuesday with more local news, events, history, and businesses worth supporting.
Forward to 3 friends who need to stay in the Pflugerville loop. Reply anytime with events, businesses you want to see featured, or shoutouts to members of our community—I read every one and I’ll include what I can.
